Here is an interesting listen from Pulse, that highlights the plan for GPs from Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt. The recording is below.
Five months ago the Health Secretary made his great speech, related to £1bn for property improvements (12.12 mins in to the speech link below) for the Jewel in the Crown of the NHS ‘General Practice’.
Four months ago in the latest example of the Government siphoning resources from the £1bn infrastructure pledged towards improving GP premises over four years, a minister has revealed that £25m will be used to top up funding for the second wave of the GP Access, or Challenge Fund pilots.
The significant chunk, amounting to 2.5% of the total four-year investment, is being taken out in 2015/16 despite NHS England saying the first year of the infrastructure fund investments would prioritise outstanding GP premises improvement bids.
Can you help us pull together a story of what has been happening across this sector of the NHS.
As Jeremy Hunt said within five years there are going to be over 1 MILLION over 70 years Old.
It takes time to get through the planning Process and the Construction process let alone having to FIGHT the NHS to obtain the resource (money) to deliver the ‘fit for purpose ‘ premises to deliver the ‘Jewel in the Crown’ service that Jeremy Hunt is so proud of.
Where are you in the process?
Combine our knowledge so that we can piece together what is actually happening in releasing this money.
Jerrard Keats & Wolley are progressing well on a number of initially approved PID applications.
It is happening, but to deliver a better service across the UK we need to work together to understand if the money is actually coming to the property sector for the improvement of GP surgery premises.
