NHS Primary Medical Services Directions

Here are a number of directions from the Department of Health that defines the legal framework under which GPs operate and are paid. These directions relate to the NHS General Medical Services Contracts Regulations 2004, as amended, and the NHS Primary Medical Services Agreements Regulations 2004, as amended. Wessex Local Medical Committees (LMC)

Wessex Local Medical Committees (LMCs) is the only statutory representative body for GPs and their Practices, within Dorset, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Somerset, and Wiltshire.  The LMC represents around 460 Practices and 3100 GPs, whether Partners, Salaried GPs, or freelance locums.  The LMC represents advise and support GPs and their practices. NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG)

Here is more information on the role of the CCG. The CCG was created following the Health and Social Care Act in 2012, and replaced Primary Care Trusts on 1 April 2013. CCGs are clinically-led statutory NHS bodies responsible for the planning and commissioning of health care services for their local area. There are now 209 CCGs in England. Click here
